Combat in Life is Feudal features a "no target combat system". A no target combat system is quite self explanatory. There is no lock-on and the player must carry out individual actions such as swing, stab, block, etc.

Physics based combat in LiF measures the speed of a weapons damaging part, as well as the speed of the victim and the attacker. It takes both measurements into a damage calculation formulae. Simply, the faster the weapon is traveling, the more damage will be dealt. This makes for some interesting tactics.

Mounted combat increases the possible damage a player can deal, but that player would also take increased damage. If a player spins left as the sword swing begins moving left, they increase the speed of the weapon, increasing the damage. Choosing and using a weapon intelligently is vital to success.
